Why We Love Fort Collins

Fort Collins is one of Colorado’s biggest real estate hotspots. This ever expanding city is one of the most coveted Northern Colorado locations and for good reason.

In 1862, Camp Collins was built by the ninth Kansas Volunteer Cavalry to protect travelers and settlers along the Colorado branch of the Overland Trail. In June 1864, a flood pushed the soldiers to build on higher ground near what is currently considered Old Town or downtown Fort Collins. Less than 3 years later, the fort was abandoned and the site was replaced with a small hotel, general store and post office, mill, school, and brick yard, and, from that, Fort Collins was born.
