While Windsor was officially incorporated in 1890, it was the longtime home of countless herds of Bison and the Native people who hunted them. With the arrival of the Great Salt Lake and Pacific Railroad in 1882 connecting Greeley and Fort Collins, Windsor began to steadily grow into one of the most popular Northern Colorado cities to live.
