Berthoud, Colorado

Why We Love Berthoud

Located just south of Loveland, Berthoud is an up and coming city attracting first time home buyers, families, and golfers alike. With the addition of the TPC golf course and multiple new construction communities, the town has grown from a primarily agricultural town to a flourishing Colorado hotspot.

The first settlers arrived in what is now considered Berthoud in the early 1860s shortly after the Colorado Gold Rush. The settlement was originally named Little Thompson but was changed to Berthoud in honor of Edward L. Berthoud, who surveyed the railroad route through the area. The addition of the railroad allowed the settlement to grow to include multiple homes, shops, a school, and a church. As the area continued to grow, agriculture became the lifeblood of the community with harvests of alfalfa, sugar beets, wheat, corn, and barley being sold on the open market. In the early 1900s, Berthoud added a small business district, and, in the 1920s, Berthoud officially became part of the paved state highway system.

Much like Loveland, Berthoud is well loved for its proximity to the mountains and major cities. The growing town offers a small town feel with big city amenities and is an excellent place to call home in Northern Colorado.
